On 13th January 2023, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated an online wildlife rehabilitation Centre at Daskroi’s Bilasia village in Ahmedabad, as part of the state’s Karuna Abhiyan (campaign for compassion), launched during Uttarayan to save birds injured by sharp kite strings.
- The rehabilitation Centre is spread over an area of 23,000 square meters and has been prepared at an estimated cost of Rs 2.72 crore.
- It will offer all kinds of facilities for the treatment of injured animals as well as their rehabilitation.
- The statewide Karuna Abhiyan will be held from January 10 to 20, aimed at including dialogue among various cooperative organizations and state government departments of forest and animal husbandry.
- The forest and animal husbandry departments and the municipal cooperation administration have supported Karuna Abhiyan for rescuing and treating injured birds during the kite flying festival in the state.
