MIB inks partnership with Amazon India in the field of Media, Entertainment and Public Awareness

Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur has announced Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Amazon India made a partnership in the field of media, entertainment and public awareness. Ministry also recognised audio-visual services as a Champion Services Sector and brought out the self-regulatory framework of OTT content regulation.

  • The MoU will aim to strengthen industry-academia linkages through provisions for scholarships, internships, masterclasses, and other opportunities for students at the Film and Television Institute of India and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India.
  • The partnership will help in reducing the period of struggle for talented artists coming out of prestigious film institutes of India.

 Letter of Engagement (LoE) between MIB and Amazon India

  • The Letter of Engagement (LoE) will help in leading to a multidimensional partnership between the various organizations under the Ministry and various verticals of Amazon. various organizations are the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Prasar Bharati, Publications Division, and the media training institutions of the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI).
  • the LoE involves the participation of Amazon Prime Video, Alexa, Amazon Music, Amazon e-marketplace, and IMDb from Amazon Side.

Delhi Airport Emerges As The World’s 9th Busiest Airport In 2022: ACI

As per the Airports Council International (ACI) list, Delhi airport emerged as the 9th busiest airport in the world in 2022 with passenger traffic of more than 5.94 crores. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL, 93.7 million passengers) has topped the list of the top 10 busiest airports in the world for 2022.

  • Followed by Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW, 73.4 million passengers, Denver Airport (DEN, 69.3 million passengers), and Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD, 68.3 million passengers).
  • Dubai Airport got 5th rank (DXB, 66.1 million passengers, +127 per cent). Istanbul Airport is at 7th position (IST, 64.3 million passengers, +73.8 per cent).
  • Followed by London Heathrow Airport, Delhi Airport, and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in the 8th, 9th, and 10th spots, respectively.

KSINC launches Solar-Powered Tourist Vessel “Sooryamshu”

KSINC launched the solar-powered tourist vessel Sooryamshu, a double-decked solar tourist boat from the stable of the Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC). The ₹3.95-crore vessel can carry up to 100 passengers and has a diesel generator to provide backup in case the need arises.

FY23 bank credit growth highest since FY12, up 15%, RBI data

Bank credit increased by 15% year-on-year (YoY) in 2022-23 (FY23), against 9.6 per cent YoY in 2021-22 (FY22), showed by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data. FY23 credit growth is the highest since 2011-12 when it was 19.3%. As per the RBI data, the bank raised Rs 15.78 trillion through deposits in FY23, against Rs 13.51 trillion raised in FY22.

  • the outstanding credit stood at Rs 136.75 trillion at the end of the last fortnight of FY23 (March 24, 2023), up from Rs 118.91 trillion a year ago (March 25, 2022 — FY22), as per the RBI’s Scheduled Bank’s Statement of Position in India.

Global trade may grow 1.7% in 2023 despite war: WTO

The world trade organization (WTO) modified its global trade growth outlook for 2023 upwards to 1.7% from last October’s estimate of 1% even as the war in Ukraine.
