Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy launches 5G training labs and 5G applications in all North Eastern States

The Minister for Development of North East Region, Tourism, and Culture, G. Kishan Reddy launched India’s first 5G training labs and 5G applications in the Health sector in all the North Eastern States. The project is centrally funded through the North East Council (NEC) and is being implemented by Assam Electronic Development Corporation (AMTRON), a PSU of the Assam government.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will launch the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav and Technology and Bharatiya Bhasha Summit in New Delhi on 30 September 2023. The two-day summit seeks to set a course for a technologically enriched future for Bharatiya languages in education. The summit will consist of three pivotal thematic sessions with a special focus on the integration of technology in promoting Bharatiya Bhasha, including its role in teaching, training, examination, and translating educational materials.

22nd Law Commission recommends govt to retain the existing age of consent under POCSO Act

22nd Law Commission recommended the Modi govt to retain the existing age of consent under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In its report, the Commission mentioned that reducing it might have damaging effects on fighting child marriage and child trafficking. The current age of consent in India is 18 years.

  • The Commission gave the Report titled “Age of Consent under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012” to the Law Ministry.

The first shipment of uranium for the Rooppur nuclear power plant arrives in Bangladesh

The first batch of fresh uranium, the nuclear fuel of the first unit of the Rooppur nuclear power plant (RNPP) reached Bangladesh. the consignment of uranium arrived in Dhaka from Russia through a special air cargo. The project director of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project M Shawkat Akbar has confirmed the arrival of the nuclear fuel but would not furnish details of the air shipment of the nuclear fuel on security grounds.

  • The director general of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom Aleksey Likhachev will hand over the fuel officially to the project authority in the Rooppur project on the 5th of October 2023.

Lt Governor of Ladakh Dr.B D Mishra inaugurates 2nd edition of five- day Himalayan Film Festival 2023

In Ladakh, the Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh Dr. B D Mishra inaugurated the 2nd edition of the five-day Himalayan Film Festival 2023 at Leh Sindhu Sankrti Kendra on 29 September 2023. The five-day event opened with the screening of Netflix India’s Jaane Jaan’ directed by Sujoy Ghosh starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma, and Ladakhi Short Film, ‘Last Days of Summer,’ directed by Ladakhi Filmmaker Stanzin Tanking.

Himalayan Film Festival 2023

  • It aims to promote budding Ladakhi filmmakers and provide an opportunity for them to showcase their talent and nurture it further through learning and networking experiences.
  • The Festival will be conducted by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) of the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh in collaboration with Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh.
