1st G20 Agriculture Working group’s meeting to be held at Indore till Feb 15

The 1st meeting of the G20 Agriculture Working group will be conducted in Indore, in Madhya Pradesh. 100 delegates from G20 member countries, guest countries and International Organizations will participate in the meeting.

  • The meeting will be held for three days on various themes such as ‘Food Security and Nutrition’, ‘Climate Based Approaches for Sustainable Agriculture’, ‘Value Chains and Food Systems for Inclusive Agriculture’, ‘Digitization for Agricultural Transformation’ and many more.

PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Asia’s biggest air show Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 14th edition of the Aero India show in Bengaluru on 13th February 2023. The theme of the five-day event is ‘The Runway to a Billion Opportunities’.

  • The Aero India show aims to showcase indigenous defence equipment, technologies and fighter aircraft.
  • It will also promote the indigenous production and export of air platforms and attract foreign investment.

Bangladesh – 19 individuals, 2 institutions to get country’s second highest civilian award ‘Ekushey Padak’

Bangladesh announced the names of 19 individuals and two institutions for the award of ‘Ekushey Padak’, the second-highest civilian award in the country. Bidyanondo Foundation was selected for Ekushey Award 2023 in the social service category. Bangladesh National Museum was also chosen for the second institution chosen for the award.

  • The Ekushey Padak is presented under various categories such as the contribution to the language movement, Liberation War, art and culture, journalism and social service among others. The award will be conferred on 3 persons under the language movement category, one in the liberation war, eight in the art and culture, and two in politics among others.

India defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets at Newlands, Cape Town, and South Africa in the Women’s Cricket T20 World Cup. India successfully chased 151 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 19 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues was top scored with unbeaten 53 runs for the winners.

Abraham Lincoln was an American lawyer, politician, and statesman who served as the 16th president of the United States from 1861 until his assassination in 1865. Lincoln guided the Union through the American Civil War to guard the nation as a constitutional union and succeeded in abolishing slavery, bolstering the federal government, and modernizing the U.S. economy. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, and died on April 15, 1865.

Sarojini Naidu’s Birth Anniversary

Every year, Sarojini Naidu Birth Anniversary, National Women’s Day is observed on February 13, marking the birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu who was a political activist, poet and proponent of civil rights. Sarojini Naidu played a vital role in India’s independence from British rule.

  • She was referred to as the ‘Nightingale of India’, Sarojini Naidu was born on February 13, 1879, in Hyderabad to a Bengali Brahmin family.
  • Sarojini Naidu was appointed as the first woman President of the Indian National Congress in 1925.
  • She played a pivotal role during the Civil Disobedience movement.
  • She was arrested in 1942 during the Quit India movement.
  • Naidu also served as the first Governor of the United Provinces (now Uttar Pradesh) from 1947 to 1949.
  • Naidu’s literary works are The Bird of Time: Songs of Life, Death and the Spring, The Broken Wing: Songs of Love, Death and the Spring, Muhammad Jinnah: An Ambassador of Unity, Feast of Youth, The Magic Tree and The Wizard Mask.
  • Sarojini Naidu died on March 2, 1949, at Lucknow.
