UAE awards the Highest Civil Award to PM Modi

  • PM Modi has been granted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the Order of Zayed, its largest civilian award, given previously in April 2019 in appreciation of its renowned management in providing a major increase to bilateral relations between the two nations. PM Modi is in the UAE on a trip.
  • In commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, and PM Modi also published stamp collectively.
  • The UAE has also become the first Middle East nation to experience the introduction of the RuPay passport, an Indian MasterCard or Visa derivative.

Establishment a consultative committee for the Fit India Movement

  • A commission of public representatives, representatives of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), national sports federations, personal organizations and fitness enthusiasts is created to educate the state on the “Fit India Movement.”
  • The national initiative seeks at encouraging individuals in their daily lives to inculcate physical activity and sport.
  • The 28-member commission, chaired by Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, has 12 public representatives including Sports, Secondary Education, Ayush, and Youth Affairs Secretaries, among others.

Harsh Vardhan opened the Ghaziabad National Food Laboratory of FSSAI

  • Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan opened the National Food Laboratory (NFL) of FSSAI in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh for the 13th centenary of the 2006 Food Safety and Standards Act.
  • This national laboratory is the outcome of the first-of-its-kind Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) in the meat laboratory sector.

World Youth Conference

  • President Ram Nath Kovind opened the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) World Youth Conference for Childhood in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
  • The meeting topic was ‘ Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: Gandhi for the Contemporary World: Celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday. ‘ The meeting was attended by Union ministers, prominent painters, Nobel laureates and over 1,000 teenagers from 27 countries.
  • The meeting commemorated Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday celebration and intended to provide innovative, efficient techniques for teenagers to engage and realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

The Statue of Unity of Gujarat, Soho House in Mumbai, is on Time’s top of the biggest locations in the world

  • The Statue of Unity in Gujarat and Soho House in Mumbai have been mentioned in the second consecutive chart of the biggest locations in the world this year by Time magazine. The catalog is a collection of 100 fresh and “freshly worth seeing places”.
  • The Unity Statue, a homage to the country’s first prime minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is the world’s highest monument, 182 meters high. Built at a price of around Rs 3,000 crore, it has exceeded China’s 128-meter-high Spring Temple Buddha.
  • The upscale Soho House in Mumbai is located in an 11-story construction with a library, a 34-seat movie theater and a terrace bar and swimming pool facing the Arab Sea.

Gujarat listed first in the Water Composite Index

  • For the target year 2017-18, CWMI (Composite Water Management Index) 2.0 compares different states against the foundation year 2016-17. “In the previous year (2017-18), Gujarat remains to carry on to number one, accompanied by Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu,” the publication said.

  • The change arises after high-profile efforts by females to flee suspected guard violence amid Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s series of changes, including last year’s groundbreaking decree that repealed the world’s only prohibition on females drivers.

Russia is launching its nuclear reactor in the Arctic

  • Russia introduced the first nuclear flying reactor in the world. The ship averages 21,000 tonnes and has a capability of 35 megawatts each with two generators. The Akademik Lomonosov, packed with nuclear fuel, enters Murmansk’s Arctic port to start its 5,000-kilometer (3,000-mile) trip to Pevek in northwestern Siberia.

  • DBS (HQ – Singapore) has become the first company to carry three worldwide greatest store prizes simultaneously in a achievement unmatched by other companies worldwide. This was accomplished after DBS in its 2019 Awards for Excellence was appointed “World’s Best Bank” by guiding the global financial magazine Euromoney.
  • It follows the bank’s August 2018 win of the “Best Bank in the World” of Global Finance and November 2018 of the “Bank of the Year – Global” of The Banker.
  • This is the first occasion that Euromoney has appointed an Asian headquartered company “World’s Best Bank” since the launch of the prize in 1993.

Moody’s reduces India’s estimate of GDP development from 6.8 pc to 6.2 pc for 2019

  • Moody’s Investors Service has trimmed India’s GDP development prediction from its prior estimate of 6.8 percent for the 2019 calendar year to 6.2 percent.
  • It decreased the budget to 6.7 percent for the 2020 calendar year.
