What is the Covid Orphans Scheme

  • The Govt will offer financial support to orphaned children who have lost both parents, the surviving parent, legal guardians, or adoptive parents to Covid-19 under the PM-CARES for Children’s scheme. In India, there are many states which have started off this scheme. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan introduced this scheme in the state for the permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh who died due to corona and its orphans. the MP Govt will provide financial assistance of Rs 5000 per month to the Corona Orphans.

Corona Orphans Scheme: How to Apply online

  • In Madhya Pradesh, the officials have found 1,200 children have lost their parents due to COVID-19. they will be provided the benefit of this scheme, as said by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the Press conference. The Corona Orphans Scheme is applicable for those applicants who have lost both parents, the surviving parent, legal guardians, or adoptive parents to Covid-19. They will be given the advantages of the Corona Orphans Scheme including financial assistance and other govt facilities.

State wise Corona Orphan Scheme

Andhra Pradesh (AP) Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of AP state started the scheme for children who are below 18 years and are orphaned due to COVID-19, they will be provided a 10 Lakh in form of a Fixed Deposit.

Assam Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of Assam state started the scheme for children are orphaned due to COVID-19, they will be provided a Rs 10 Lakh for the care of them.

Chhattisgarh Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of Chhattisgarh state started the scheme for children are orphaned due to COVID-19. orphaned students (classes 1-8) will be provided Rs 500 per month as a stipend and students (9-12 classes) will be provided Rs 1000 as a stipend under the “Mahtari Dular Yojana”.

Himachal Pradesh Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of Himachal Pradesh state started the scheme for children who are below 18 years and are orphaned due to COVID-19, they will be provided Rs 2500 Financial assistance per month.

Jharkhand Covid Orphan Scheme

Kerala Covid Orphan Scheme

Tamil Nadu Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of Tamil Nadu state started the scheme for children who are below 18 years and are orphaned due to COVID-19, they will be provided a 5 Lakh Fixed deposit and Rs 3000 monthly assistance per month.

Punjab Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of Punjab state started the scheme for children who are below 21 years and are orphaned due to COVID-19, they will be provided free education in all state governed institutes and Rs 1500 Financial assistance per month.

Uttar Pradesh (UP) Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of UP state started the scheme for children who are orphaned due to COVID-19, and the govt has formed a special task force to manage.

New Delhi Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of New Delhi UT Arvind Kejriwal started the scheme for children who are below 25 years and have been orphaned due to COVID-19, they will be provided Rs 2500 Financial assistance per month.

Rajasthan Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of Rajasthan state started the scheme for children who are orphaned due to COVID-19, and they will be provided Rs 500 Financial assistance per month or Rs 1000 additionally under “Palanhaar Yojana”.

Uttarakhand Covid Orphan Scheme

  • The CM of Uttarakhand state started the scheme for children who are orphaned due to COVID-19, and they will be provided Rs 3000 Financial assistance per month and will be provided reservations in government jobs.

PM-CARES for Children’s scheme

  • Modi government said all children who have lost both parents, the surviving parent, legal guardians, or adoptive parents to Covid-19 will be provided financial assistance under the PM-CARES for Children’s scheme.
  • PM Modi chaired a meeting to “discuss and deliberate” which aims to take efforts to support children who have lost parents to the pandemic. as well, the govt also announced financial assistance in the form of fixed deposits, free education as well as health insurance.
  • Apart from this, The PM-CARES will provide a specially designed scheme to create a corpus of Rs 10 lakh for each child when he or she reaches 18 years of age. at 23, they will be provided a corpus amount as one lump-sum for personal and professional use.
