Book fair ‘Amar Ekushey Boi Mela’ on 1st February– Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the largest and longest book fair of Bangladesh ‘Amar Ekushey Boi Mela’ on 1st February 2023. The historic ‘Amar Ekushey Boi Mela’ will be conducted on the grounds of the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital city, Dhaka.
- ‘Paro Boi, Garo Desh: Bangabandhur Bangladesh’ meaning ‘Read Book, build country: Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh’ is the theme of the fair 2023.
Amar Ekushey Boi Mela History
- In 1972, The book fair was started to commemorate the sacrifices of people killed by Pakistani forces on 21st February 1952, demanding Bangla as the mother language for then East Pakistan.
- The book fair is being organised every year by the Bangla Academy since 1978.
