Every year, Be Electrific Day is celebrated on February 11, aimed at honoring and celebrating Thomas Alva Edison, one of the greatest scientists and inventors to have ever lived. ‘Electrific’ is an abbreviation of Electrification Project, and its meaning is to put light where light has not been before.

In 1988, professional speaker, body language expert, and speech pathologist Carolyn Finch invented Be Electric Day to encourage citizens to learn more about electricity and also to explore the electricity in our bodies.
The day also marks the birthday of Thomas Alva Edison, who promoted the growth of technology and the modern world with his inventions, especially the modern light bulb, this day is also observed in honor of Edison.
