On 20th August 2020, The Union Tribal Affairs Minister Mr Arjun Munda has begun the “Trifood Project” of TRIFED. the main purpose of Trifood Project is to improve the income of tribals via better utilization and value addition to the Minor Forest Produce (MFP) collected by the tribal forest gatherers.
In the beginning, The Trifood Project has been started in two tertiary processing centres. the first centre is Raigad, Maharashtra and second is in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh.
The Raigad unit will play role value addition to mahua, amla, custard apple and jamun to provide mahua drink, amla juice, candy, jamun juice and custard apple pulp. Correspondingly, Jagdalpur unit will be helpful to process commodities such as mahua, amla, honey, cashew, tamarind, ginger, garlic and other fruits and vegetables to obtain mahua drink, amla juice, candy, pure honey, ginger-garlic paste and fruit and vegetable pulp.
TRIFED Ministry of Tribal Affairs is going to implement TRIFOOD project with the help of the Ministry of Food Processing (MoFPI).
