Amit Shah launched the Green Sohra Afforestation Campaign at Sohra (Cherrapunji)
On 25th July 2021, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji has launched the Green Sohra Afforestation Campaign at Sohra (Cherrapunji) during his Meghalaya visit. he has also inaugurated the Greater Sohra Water Supply Scheme. Along with it, he also has given the slogan “Evergreen Northeast” which highlights the importance of afforestation and tree plantation.
- The Meghalaya Govt will conduct an afforestation campaign with the help of Assam Rifles and this move will help in boosting tourism in the state and will greatly benefit eco-tourism.
- Under the Prime Minister’s ambitious project Jal Jeevan Mission, the Ministry of DoNER and the Government of Meghalaya will provide pure drinking water through taps to every household under the North-East Special Infrastructure Scheme.
- The amount of 25 crore rupees will be spent on the Greater Sohra Water Project.
