World’s largest solar tree

The CSIR-CMERI has recently instaled largest solar tree of the world in Durgapur, West Bengal. The installed solar tree will have a capacity of 11.5 kWp.

As per the Statement of Director of CSIR-CMERI Harish Hiranoi, The solar tree system will generate almost 12,000-14,000 units of clean and green power.

Solar PV Panel will be able to ensure maximum exposure and 35 Solar PV Panels have been installed on a tree and each will produce 330 wp.

Highlights –

  • The Solar Trees panel will create a minimum shadow area. the panel will be used for agricultural activities for eg high capacity pumps, e-tractors and e-power tillers.
  • The solar trees can be seen as an option than fossil fuels. a solar tree will help in saving 10-12 tons of CO2 emissions contrasted with fossil fuels.
  • The solar trees will play an important role in agricultural actions and it will give a good option in farming an economic and energy sustainable practice.

Cost of a Solar Tree?

Almost 7.2 Lakh rupees will be spent on one solar tree. the instalment of solar trees ib being done under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evem Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) Scheme.
