Former Chairman of Bajaj Auto Rahul Bajaj passes away at 83 – Veteran industrialist and head of the Bajaj group has died at the age of 83 due to pneumonia and also a heart problem.
- Rahul Bajaj is the recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award in 2001.
- In 1965, Rahul Bajaj joined the Bajaj group and assumed the charge of CEO of Bajaj Auto in 1968.
- In 2005, Rahul Bajaj resigned from his executive role and his son Rajiv assumed the post of Bajaj Auto’s managing director.
- He had been as the Chairman of the industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for two terms—1979-80 and 1999-2000.
