2023 target to eliminate Rubella and measles

  • As per World Health Organisation’s (WHO), Maldives and Sri Lanka have proved themselves in the terms of eliminate both measles and rubella that they will achieve beyond their 2023 target.
  • After helding 5th meet of South-East Asia Regional Verification Commission for Measles and Rubella Elimination, this news was shared to public. and 11 independent international experts were also present during the meet.

Target for 2023:

  • South-East Asia region countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Myanmar, North Korea, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand have set a target to comabt against measles and rubella in September 2019.
  • The main focus has been eradicating measles and controlling rubella and for this nations are working on it.
