14 more Special Development Councils created in Odisha

14 more Special Development Councils created in Odisha – Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced to the creation of 14 Special Development Councils (SDCs), aimed at preserving and propagating the tribal culture and protecting the unique identity of all tribal groups of the State.

  • 14 Special Development Councils (SDCs) will be for Angul, Bolangir, Balasore, Bargarh, Boudh, Devgarh, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nayagarh, and Sambalpur districts.
  • After the creation of the 14 new SDCs, The total number of special development councils will increase to 23 from 9.
  • Odisha government created the 1st special development councils in 2017-18 for the preservation of tribal art, culture, and literature.
  • The Chief Minister also launched a coffee table book on the Special Development Council.
