Youth Day in Cameroon 2024: History, Dates, FAQs

Youth Day in Cameroon is observed by children and youth from the country’s 10 regions on February 11 every year. The day aims to emphasize this new generation’s ability and commitment to contribute to the creation of a prosperous and stable tomorrow.


On this day, parades, cultural dances, singing, and sports events are conducted by youths. Cameroon’s Youth Day can be seen as a national festival. It aims to align young people with community building, national pride, and responsible citizenship beliefs. Youth Day was designated by the West Cameroon government to replace the country’s national day, which was celebrated on October 26.

The inaugural “Youth and Sport” day took place in West Cameroon on October 26, 1962. The day witnessed West Cameroonian politicians, local officials, state officials, and the general public.
