World Animal Day 2021: Date, history, significance

World Animal Day is observed on 4th October every year. this day is also known as World Animal Welfare Day or Animal Lovers Day in the world.

The main purpose of this day is to ensure better standards for animal welfare and to create awareness about their importance in nature.
It is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, who was noted as the patron saint of animals.

In 1925, The cynologist Heinrich Zimmermann conducted the first World Animal Day on March 24th at the Sports Palace in Berlin, Germany.
International Day of Action (World Animal Day) is also the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
