India achieves landmark milestone of recognising over 75000 startups so far
Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textile Shri Piyush Goyal announced that India achieved a landmark milestone, wherein 75000 startups have been recognized in the country.
- The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) recognizes over 75,000 startups- a milestone which coincides with the 75th year of independence.
- Of the total recognized startups almost 12% belong to IT services, 9% to Healthcare and Life Sciences, 7% to education, 5% to professional and commercial services and 5% to agriculture.

RBI’s Financial Inclusion Index for March 2022 rises to 56.4
The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Financial Inclusion Index (FI-Index) in March 2022 has reached at 56.4 and witnessed across all parameters which was 53.9 in March 2021.
- RBI launched the Financial Inclusion Index (FI-Index)
- FI-index is a measure of the extent of financial inclusion in India.
- FI-Index includes the inclusion of details of banking, investments, insurance, postal and pension sectors in India.
- The value of the FI-Index ranges from 0 to 100. Where 0 denotes complete financial exclusion and 100 denotes full financial inclusion.

Suresh N Patel sworn in as Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC)
President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Suresh N. Patel as the new Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) of India. his appointment will come into effect on August 03, 2022. Suresh N. Patel holds the post of Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) which was lying vacant for the past year.
- Suresh N. Patel was the Vigilance Commissioner of India.
- He had been working as the acting CVC since June 2022, replacing Sanjay Kothari.
- At present, the two Vigilance Commissioners of India are Shri Praveen Kumar Srivastava and Shri Arvinda Kumar.

India won silver in badminton mixed team final at 2022 CWG
The Indian badminton team won the silver medal in the mixed group match of the Commonwealth Games 2022. India was defeated by Malaysia by 1-3. Singapore claim the bronze medal and beat England 3-0.
- Kidambi Srikanth represented Indian Men’s Single event.
- PV Sindhu represented the Indian Women’s Single event.
- Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty represented the men’s double event
- P Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly represented the women’s double events.
Indian Men’s Table Tennis Team win Gold at 2022 CWG
The Indian Table Tennis Men’s Team has won a Gold medal for India. in the final match, India defeated Singapore 3-1 at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
- India won the second consecutive Gold medal in Men’s Table Tennis Team event after the previous win in CWG 2018 in GoldCoast.
- Indian Table Tennis Men’s Team is Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shetty.
India’s Lawn Bowls Women’s Fours Team wins Gold at 2022 Birmingham CWG
The Indian team of lawn bowls won a Gold medal in the women’s fours event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, by beating South Africa, 17-10 in the finals. Indian team made history by winning gold in lawn bowls.
- It is the first-ever medal won by the Indian team in the lawn bowls event at CWG.
- The women’s fours team is skipper Rupa Rani Tirkey, Lovely Choubey, Pinki and Nayanmoni Saikia.
- India has received overall 10 medals so far and the 4th gold medal at the 2022 Birmingham CWG Games.
Vikas Thakur wins Silver in Men’s 96kg Weightlifting Event at 2022 CWG
Indian weightlifter Vikas Thakur won the silver medal in the men’s 96kg category event at the 2022 Birmingham CWG, lifted a total weight of 346kg (155kg Snatch and 199kg Clean and Jerk).
- This is the overall 3rd Commonwealth Games medal for Vikas Thakur.
- Prior to this, He won silver in Glasgow 2014 and bronze in Gold Coast 2018.
- Samoa’s Don Opeloge lifted 381kg (171kg+210kg) and won the gold medal at the 2022 CWG.
- Fiji’s Taniela Tuisuva Rainibogi won the bronze medal and lifted a total of 343kg (155kg+188kg).
