Stephen Lawrence Day 2023 – Every year, Stephen Lawrence Day is marked on April 22, in honour of a black teenager who was slain in a racist attack on the same day in 1993. 18 years old Lawrence was attacked and killed when he was waiting for a bus in Plumstead, south-east London.

The Stephen Lawrence Foundation designated Stephen Lawrence Day in order to honour his life and legacy, inspire a more equal, inclusive society, and develop possibilities for the U.K.’s marginalized youth.

Who was Stephen Lawrence?

Stephen Lawrence was born on 13 September 1974 and died on 22 April 1993. he was a black British teenager from Plumstead, southeast London, who was murdered in a racially motivated attack while waiting for a bus in Well Hall Road, Eltham on the evening of 22 April 1993. Two of the perpetrators were convicted of murder on 3 January 2012.
