Every year, the Solemnity of Mary is observed on January 1 among the 12 Days of Christmas by the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. It will be the 8th day of Christmastide and is a feast to celebrate Mary’s motherhood. The day is also called the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God.
History
