Saffron Production in India
In the Jammu & Kashmir, the Saffron was produced in a limited geographical area. but, its production has been spread to the North East of India.
- The common area Pampore region is called a Saffron bowl of Kashmir state. because of this region the biggest contributor of saffron production in the country. then, it is produced in Srinagar, Budgam and Kishtiwar regions.
- The Centre wants to examine the feasibility of producing saffron in North East region of India and want to produce Saffron with the same quality and higher quantity.
- NECTAR organized some tests on Sikkim’s soil and they found the soil is suitable for producing Saffron.
