Ravi Kumar Dahiya won a silver medal for India in men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling

On 5th August 2021, Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar has clinched an Olympic silver after losing his 57kg final to Russian two-time defending world champion Zavur Uguev. This is India’s 2nd silver and 5th medal overall at the Tokyo Olympics.

  • Prior to this, Sushil Kumar has won Olympic silver in the 2012 London Olympics and Ravi Kumar joined the row.
  • Ravi’s win has also marked the fourth consecutive medal for India at the Olympics in wrestling.
  • In the 1952 Games, legendary KD Jadhav won bronze and Sushil Kumar clinched a bronze and a silver at Beijing 2008 and London 2012 respectively.
  • Ravi defeated Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev and entered the semi-final.
