Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana-

  • The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has stated to extend Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) on 30th June 2020. now PMGKAY will be in operation till November 2020 and will have Rs 90,000 crore budget. Under this Yojana, Over 80 crore people will be given 5 kg free wheat or rice per month and 1 kg free whole chana (pulses) will be provided to families amid COVID-19.
  • The centre rolled out this Yojana for the period of three months (April-May-June). During the period of three months, the Indian govt has provided a total of 116.34 lakh metric tonne (LMT) food grains to familes and also distributed to 59.29 crore rupees to beneficiaries. on the other hand, Govt distributed 5.79 LMT Pulses.
  • Wheat is allocated to six (6) States they are : Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, handigarh, Delhi and Gujarat and rice to remaining others States/UTs.
  • Really, the govt is bearing 100 per cent financial burden which is almost 46,000 crores rupees for food grains and 5,000 crore rupees are also included for pulses under PMGKAY.
  • About One Nation One Ration Card Plan –  From 01 June 2020, the plan enabled in 20 Indian States/UTs, they are : Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Daman & Diu (Dadra and Nagar Haveli), Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha,  Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Tripura. all remaining States/UTS will be covered under this plan By 31st March 2021 and then the plan will be in operation across the India.
