On 13th January 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Tent City and laid the foundation stones of several waterways project worth more than Rs 1,000 crores in Varanasi. the projects aim to boost trade, tourism, and employment opportunities in eastern India.
- Varanasi Development Authority in public-private partnership mode on the banks of the Ganga developed the Tent City.
- It aims to raise tourism opportunities in the region.
- The Tent City includes accommodation facilities for tourists along with live classical music and yoga sessions.
