Articles(A, An ,The)

The is called Definite article And A, An are konown  as Indefinite Article.

Position Of the Articles

1. A / An / The + Noun  

• this is a passbook.
• amit is a boy.
• that is a table.
• this is a phone.

2. A / An / The + Adjective  +  Noun  

• This is a beautiful dress
• amit is a bad boy
• that is a longest road  in india .

3 . A / An / The +  Adverb + Adjective + Noun  

• this is a very beautiful dress.
• Amit is a very good friend.
• There is an extremely old pic.

4. the Article is Used After Rather, All, Both Such, Double, Half, Many, Just, Quite, What 

• All the students
• both the teachers
• such a girl
• half a mintue
• many a students
• rather a cool weather
• What an idea sirG
• Just The right time

5 . If How / So / Too /As + Adjective  then articls are used before noun  A / An / The + Noun.

• it was so good a chance
• he is so fine a boy

Usage Of the Articles (Indefinite Article -a/an )

1 . Indefinite Article -a/an : Noun Should be a Singular and Countable For Example

• a boy
• a Girl
• a book
• a pen
• a tv
• a bottle (Bottle is countable)
• a Students
• a Water ( incorrect Due to Uncountable) 

Use Of A/An – 

1. In the Sense Of One – 

• he is a good player
• amit is an elder
• he is a worker
• he is a doctor

2.  In the sense of Per

• Pooja earns rs 50000 a month.
• amit charges rs 100 an hour.

3.  Any Or Anyone 

• a baby needs care
• A Bike Needs Maintainance

4. a Person Named

• a Mr. pandhu Is waiting in room

5. In Some Fixed Phrases

• in a hurry
• to talk a walk
• at a loss
• to make a noise
• to catch a cold
• in a fix

6. A/An + Verb (In case when a verb is used as a noun)

• they come for a walk daily.   (walk is being used as noun here  )

7 . A/An + Uncountable Noun (In case when Use of  Uncountable Noun to be like countable Noun ).

• Have a Glass of water.

1. Before the names of rivers, oceans, bays ,Mountains, Islands, Islands and directions etc.

• The Ganga

2. The Only Things Before

• The Sun
• The Moon
• The Earth
• The sky
• The Universe

3. holy texts, famous books and newspapers

• The Geeta
• The Bible
• The Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
• The Indian Express

4. Historic buildings, monuments,  water ship, plane

• The Tajmahal
• The RedFort
• The Titanic

5. Instrumental instruments

• The Flute
• The Guitar
• The Violins
• The Trumpet

6. Federal nations

• The USA
• The UK
• The UNO
• The UAE

7. Before Superlative Degree Of Adjective

• The best Teacher
• The Smallest Girl
• The Oldest Man

NOTE –  If There is My/Your/His , in that condition we will not use “THE” before Superlative Degree.

8. Before important Posts

• The PM
• The President
• The Headmaster

NOTE : If elected / Appointed / Chosen words are in sentance then , we dont use THE . 

9. the same growth / decrease twice with Comp. Degree

10. Before Ordinal Numbers(Fo eg. First, Second , Third .. )

12.  when adjective is used as plural noun
