National Statistics day 2020
- The Indian Govt celebrates 29th June as National Statistics day 2020 every year in order to be birth anniversary of Prof. P C Mahalanobis. the main purpose of this day is to create awareness and encourge youth about the role of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy formulation. apart from this, Statistics Day also helps to public about use of Statistics in everyday life and sensitize.

History–
- On 29th June 2007, This was the first time when this day was observed by Indian Govt. the govt planned to observe the outstanding contribution made by Late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis. Prasanta Chandra made a lot of contributions in the field of economic planning and statistical developments.
