National Population Register 2021
- Due to COVID-19 Virus everything has paused and there was an essential task that was to be taken, has obstructed that is the first phase of Census 2021. on 16th May 2020, The Uttar Pradesh state government stated about the updation of National Population Register(NPR).
- The GOI planned to conduct The first phase of the Census 2021 between April 2020 and September 2020 and the second phase was to be conducted from February 9 to 28 February 2021.
- All of Indian States excepting Assam, proposed to be done with the Phase I of Census 2021 and updation of NPR.
What Is National Population Register 2021?
- The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is known as a register of all Indian citizens. it is mandatory by the 2003 amendment of the Citizenship Act, 1955. every indian citizen felt to have document to be proven and due to NPR, all illegal migrants can be identified and deported from the country.
- however, NPR has been conducted for the state of Assam starting in 2013–2014. till the next year 2021, GOI wants to implement it for the rest of the country.
Objective Of National Population Register 2021–
- On basis of an official statement, the main objective of NPR is to help identify the demographics of actual citizens who would be directly got benefits of any govt schemes launched in the area.
