Loud Shirt Day is celebrated in New Zealand on October 21 each year. It is an unofficial holiday and aims to raise awareness across New Zealand about children with hearing disabilities and impairment. In New Zealand, two major charities have taken on the responsibility of managing children who are deaf or hard of hearing: “The Hearing House” and “Southern Cochlear Implant Programme.” Loud Shirt Day is the annual fundraising event across the country. Such charities make efforts to raise much-needed funds to continue contributing to the management and rehabilitation of children who are deaf.
