The day of 21st August is observed as The International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism in order to pay tribute to the individuals across the globe who have been attacked, injured, traumatized, or lost their lives because of terrorist attacks.

  • United Nations celebrates August 21 as the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to victims of terrorism to remind and pay tribute to the victims who lose their life or suffer the trauma of terrorism.

History:

  • In 2017, The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution 72/165 to observe August 21 as the day the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism for the purpose of honoring and supporting the victims of such acts across the globe.
  • The main objective of this day is to provide and promote human rights and fundamental freedoms to these victims.
