International Day of Friendship day is celebrated on July 30 every year across the world, the day highlights the powerful tie of friendship that exists between two or more individuals regardless of caste, creed, or color. this day is also known as World Friendship Day. In India, Friendship Day is observed on the first Sunday of August.

- UNESCO proposed this day to observe and UN General Assembly adopted this proposal in 1997. In 2011 the UN General Assembly proclaimed the day and July 30 became officially recognised as International Friendship Day.
