International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers is observed on February 12. The day aims to stop the use of children in armed conflict. The day is also called Red Hand Day. In 2002, The Protocol was enacted by the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict in Geneva.

In February 2002, the U.N. General Assembly took the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict to supplement the Convention.
