Doppler Weather Radar Network

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has said on the occasion of the 148th Foundation Day of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in New Delhi that India will be covered by Doppler Weather Radar Network by 2025 in order to predict extreme weather events more accurately.

  • Indian Government took steps to increase the Radar Network from 15 to 37.
  • Minister dedicated four Doppler Weather Radar Systems to Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
  • India will establish 660 District Agro Meteorological Units (DAMUs) by 2025.
  • Jitendra Singh also dedicated 200 Agro Automated Weather Stations to the Nation.
