Doordarshan’s DG Mayank Agrawal appointed Prasar Bharti CEO – The Director-general, Doordarshan and Doordarshan News Mayank Kumar Agrawal have been given additional charge as chief executive officer, Prasar Bharati. Mayank Kumar Agrawal has replaced Shashi Shekhar Vempati who completed his five-year tenure as CEO of the public broadcaster.
- The decision was taken following approval from Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to appoint 1989-batch Indian Information Service official till further orders or regular appointment to the post.
- Shashi Shekhar Vempati’s tenure came to an end on Wednesday and was elected as CEO of the public broadcaster in June 2017, on the recommendation of a three-member committee headed by the then Vice-President.
