India signs MoU with Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand to promote adoption of energy efficiency

In order to promote the adoption of energy efficiency and sustainable practices in the region, India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle Joint Business Council (IMT-GT JBC), Malaysia. MoU was signed between Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and IMT-GT JBC Malaysia. The next meeting of the working group will be held in Gujarat.

68th India International Garment fair

On 7 February 2023, Union minister Darshana Jardosh, inaugurated the 68th India International Garment Fair (IIGF) at India Export Mart, Greater Noida. International Garment Fair Association is conducting its 68th IIGF and over 250 exhibitors will showcase their products for Autumn/winter 2023-24.

Union minister unveiled the unmanned traffic management system in New Delhi

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari unveiled Skye UTM, touted as the most cutting-edge unmanned traffic management system in the world. Skye UTM has the capability to handle 4,000 flights per hour and 96,000 flights per day.

  • Skye UTM is a Cloud-based aerial traffic management system and it integrates unmanned air traffic with manned aviation airspace.
  • Skye UTM aims to offer situational awareness, autonomous navigation, risk assessment, and traffic management to all drone/other aerial mobility operators across the airspace.

PhonePe launches cross-border UPI payments service

PhonePe launched a service to allow the fintech firm’s Indian users travelling abroad to pay foreign merchants using Unified Payments Interface (UPI). ‘UPI international’ will support merchant outlets in UAE, Singapore, Nepal and Bhutan that have a local QR (quick response) code. Users can make direct payments in foreign currency from their Indian bank.

RBI announces pilot launch of QR Code-based Coin Vending Machine

RBI will launch QR Code-based Coin Vending Machine (QCVM) to improve the distribution of coins. The pilot project will be launched in 19 locations in 12 cities across the country. The QCVM is a cashless coin dispensation machine to dispense coins against debit to the customer’s bank account using Unified Payments Interface (UPI). QCVM will help in eliminating the need for physical tendering of banknotes and their authentication.

National Table Tennis Tournament 2023

The Tamil Nadu Table Tennis Association will conduct the Inter-State National Junior Table Tennis Tournament between February 8th and 16th in Chennai. More than 1,300 players from 30 states and institutions will join the tournament.
