President Droupadi Murmu confers Padma Awards in second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Droupadi Murmu conferred 55 Padma Awards for the year 2023, at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening. She presented three (3) Padma Vibhushan, five (5) Padma Bhushan and 47 Padma Shri Awards.

SWAYAM portal launched to allow people to secure good quality education

The Education Ministry said under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 it has fixed a target of a 50% Gross Enrolment Ratio in Higher Education by 2035. The Information Communication and Technology (ICT) based SWAYAM portal was launched to reach out to people and allow them to secure good quality education.

TikTok was fined 12.7 million pounds for illegally processing the data of 1.4 million children under the age of 13. As per Britain’s Information Commissioner’s Office, the video-sharing site used the data of children of this age without parental consent.

US President Joe Biden welcomed Finland as a member of NATO. Finland’s foreign minister handed over documents completing its accession process to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Brussels to be a member of NATO officially.

Kim Cotton of New Zealand becomes the first female on-field umpire to stand in a men’s international match between two ICC full-member countries. She umpired as an on-field umpire in a T20 match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand at the University Oval in Dunedin.
