IAF to participate in Exercise Cobra Warrior

An Indian Air Force contingent comprising 145 Air Warriors will participate in Exercise Cobra Warrior at the Waddington Air Force Base of the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom. The exercise will be conducted from 06 March 2023 to 24 March 2023.

  • The Exercise Cobra Warrior is a multilateral Air exercise in which Air Forces from Finland, Sweden, South Africa, the United States of America and Singapore will also be participating alongside the Royal Air Force and IAF.

International Intellectual Property Index 2023

U.S. Chambers of Commerce released International IP Index 2023 and as per the Index, India has ranked 42nd among 55 leading global economies. The United States ranks first in the 2023 International IP Index, followed by the UK and France at 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Karnataka to get India’s 1st Marina to promote coastal tourism

Karnataka will get India’s 1st Marina which will be constructed Byndoor in the Udupi district to promote coastal tourism in the state. The state Govt will build a corridor of ancient temples like Madhukeshwara in Banavasi and Dattatreya in Ganagapura and promote ‘Yatra tourism’.

Vellore Spiny Brinjal, Ramnad Mundu Chilli conferred GI tag in Tamil Nadu

Two new products from Tamil Nadu — the Vellore Spiny Brinjal and Ramanathapuram Mundu Chillies — have been awarded the prestigious Geographical Indications (GI) label due to their distinctive morphological and geographic traits.

  • 45 items from Tamil Nadu have received GI recognition and The state of Karnataka has the most GI tags, at 46. Kerala, with 36 GI items, is in 3rd place.

Kerala signs MoU with United nation Women

The Kerala government signed an agreement with the United Nations (UN) Women to boost women-friendly activities in the State’s tourism sector to work towards promoting gender-inclusive tourism sites in the State.

Marconi Prize 2023

Computer scientist Hari Balakrishnan won the 2023 Marconi Prize. Dr Balakrishnan has been cited “for fundamental contributions to wired and wireless networking, mobile sensing, and distributed systems”.

  • The Marconi Prize is a top honour for computer scientists and is presented by the U.S.-based Marconi Foundation to those “who have made a significant contribution to increasing digital inclusivity through advanced information and communications technology.”
  • Dr. Balakrishnan also won the Infosys Prize (2020) and the IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award (2021). Previous winners of the Marconi Prize include Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Google cofounder Sergey Brin, and sci-fi author Arthur C. Clarke.

1st Snow Marathon held at Bhaderwah in Jammu

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India (North) in association with Real Sports India along with local administration, Amazing Bhaderwah Tourism Association (ABTA) conducted the maiden 1st Snow Marathon in Bhaderwah, Jammu on 26 February 2023 to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence, G20 India Presidency, Dekho Apna Desh, Yuva Tourism Club and Fit India Movement.

Women T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament 2023

Australia beat South Africa by 19 runs in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 final, at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. Australia set a target of 157 runs, South Africa reached 137/6 in 20 overs. The win also helped Australia win their third consecutive T20 World Cup title, their sixth overall.

14th Asian Lawn Bowl Championship

The 14th Asian Lawn Bowl Championship was conducted in Malaysia. The Indian team received a total of 5 medals in this competition namely 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. In the men’s four-member category, Sunil Bahadur, Chandan Kumar Singh, Mridul Por Kohain and Dinesh Kumar won the bronze medal.

ITTF Para Open Table Tennis Tournament 2023

The ITTF Para Open Table Tennis Tournament was conducted in Egypt between the 25th and 27th of February 2023. India won 8 medals in this competition including 2 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.

13th Senior Women’s National Hockey Tournament

Hockey Madhya Pradesh became the winner of the 13th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship in 2023 after beating Hockey Maharashtra 5-1 in the championship game in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Hockey Jharkhand ended 3rd after winning the third-place game against Hockey Haryana.
