PM Modi to inaugurate 7th Indian Mobile Congress in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the 7th Edition of the Indian Mobile Congress 2023 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 27 October 2023. PM Modi will award 100 5G Use Case Labs to educational institutions across the country. These labs are being developed under the 100 5G labs initiative.

Piyush Goyal to attend G-7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Osaka, Japan on 28th October

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will participate in the Group of Seven Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Osaka, Japan from the 28th to the 29th of October 2023. The Minister will also attend bilateral meetings with a few G7 countries, invitee countries, and international organizations.

16 Urban Mobility India Conference in New Delhi

The 16th Urban Mobility India Conference 2023 will start in New Delhi on 27 October 2023. The Conference will focus on the designing and implementation of efficient, high-quality, integrated, and resilient urban transport systems in the cities. The three-day conference will be inaugurated by Union Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri. The theme of the conference is Integrated and Resilient Urban Transport.

India and EU carry out maiden joint naval exercise in Gulf of Guinea

India and the European Union (EU) joined their maiden naval exercise in the Gulf of Guinea off the West African coast on October 24, 2023. The exercise aims to boost maritime security cooperation. The exercise is being conducted after the 3rd meeting of the EU-India Maritime Security Dialogue on October 5 in Brussels.

  • INS Sumedha, an offshore patrol vessel, and three EU member states’ ships– Italian Navy Ship ITS Foscari, French Navy Ship FS Ventôse, and Spanish Navy Ship Tornado joined the exercise.

Newcastle Tonali banned for 10 months for betting violations, will miss Euro 2024

The Italian soccer federation banned Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali for betting on teams he played for and ruled him out of the rest of the Premier League season as well as competing for Italy at 2024’s European Championship. The 23-year-old Tonali becomes the 2nd player suspended in the widening case.

Tonali will not be allowed to play Euro 2024, which runs from June 14 to July 14. Defending champion Italy has not qualified yet.

IPL 2024 auction to be held on December 19 in Dubai

The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will be conducted in Dubai on December 19, 2023. It will be the first-ever instance of an auction taking place overseas. It will be held on the same day as the second ODI of India’s tour of South Africa, which is scheduled for December 19 at Gqeberha.

The 10 IPL Boards will have to submit their list of retained and released players by November 15, 2023. Each team will have INR 100 crore (roughly USD 12.02 million) to create their roster for the 2024 season, an INR 5 crore increase over last season’s purse of INR 95 crore.

World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2023

World Day For Audiovisual Heritage is observed on October 27th every year across the globe to raise general awareness about the need to take urgent measures and it also acknowledges the importance of audiovisual documents. The Recommendation for the Safeguarding and Preservation of Moving Images was adopted in the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at Belgrade, Serbia on October 27, 1980. The theme for the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2023 is “Your Window to the World”.
