PM Modi to attend 20th anniversary of SWAGAT initiative in Gujarat via video conferencing

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to attend the 20th anniversary of the State Wide Attention on Grievances by Application of Technology (SWAGAT) initiative in Gujarat via video conferencing on 27th April 2023. During the event, PM Modi will also interact with the past beneficiaries of the scheme. The state govt of Gujarat is celebrating SWAGAT Saptah.

  • In April 2003, Prime Minister Modi started this scheme to act as a bridge between the citizens and the government using technology by solving their day-to-day grievances in a quick, efficient and time-bound manner.

Home Minister Amit Shah launches IFFCO Nano DAP (Liquid)

Amit Shah launched IFFCO Nano DAP (Liquid) in New Delhi. IFFCO Nano DAP (Liquid) product is an important starting to make India self-reliant in the field of fertilizers. IFFCO Nano DAP (Liquid) product will help in bringing a paradigm shift in the agriculture sector of India. it will also make farmers prosperous and India self-reliant in the field of production and fertilizer.

  • Along with it, the use of liquid DAP, through spraying on the plant, will help boost both the quality and quantity of production as well as the conservation of the land.
  • The 500 ml bottle’s effect will be equivalent to that of a 45 kg bag of granular urea.

Cabinet approves National Medical Devices Policy 2023

The Union government approved the National Medical Devices Policy, 2023. The policy aims to help the Medical Devices Sector, grow from the present 11 billion US dollars to 50 billion US dollars in the next five years.

  • The market size of the medical devices sector in India has been estimated to be nearly 90,000 crore rupees in 2020 and its share in the global medical device market is estimated to be 1.5%.
  • National Medical Devices Policy will help in facilitating orderly growth of the medical device sector to meet the public health objectives of access, affordability, quality, and innovation.

Centre approves establishment of 157 new govt nursing colleges at cost of Rs 1570 crores in India

The Union government will set up 157 new government nursing colleges at a cost of 1570 crores in co-location with existing medical colleges in the country. The decision has been taken in a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

  • For setting up each nursing college, an amount of 10 crore rupees will be provided and these nursing colleges will be established in the next 24 months.

Consul General of India in Dubai, Dr. Aman Puri inaugurated The ‘Study in India Pavilion’ at the Global Education & Training Exhibition (GETEX) in Dubai. The Services Export Promotion Council with the support of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India conducted the India Pavilion at GETEX 2023 from 26-28 April 2023 at Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai, UAE.

  • It is spanning over 200 sqm and features more than 30 universities and edtech stakeholders of Indian higher education.

Australia to host third in-person Quad Summit on May 24 in Sydney

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that Australia will host the 3rd in-person Quad Summit on May 24th, 2023 in Sydney. It will be attended by US President Joe Biden, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

  • The Quad aims to support an open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific that is respectful of sovereignty and ensures security and growth for all.

NITI Aayog released a report titled Promoting Millets in Diets: Best Practices across States and Union Territories of India. NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman K. Bery in the presence of Member (Health) Dr. V.K. Paul, Member (Agriculture) Dr Ramesh Chand, and CEO B. V. R. Subrahmanyam released the report.

  • The report highlights a set of good and innovative practices adopted by state governments and organizations in various aspects of the millet value chain, especially production, processing, and consumption.

AAP’s Shelly Oberoi elected as new Mayor of MCD for second consecutive term

Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Shelly Oberoi has been appointed as the new Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on April 26 for the second consecutive term while Aaley Mohammad Iqbal will be the Deputy Mayor. Earlier, the BJP decided to withdraw its candidates accusing AAP of not being willing to make MCD functional by allowing the formation of Standing Committees and Ward Committees.
