First MCA Barge Yard 75 (LSAM 7) launched at Visakhapatnam

RAdm Sandeep Mehta, ACWP&A launched Missile Cum Ammunition (MCA) Barge, Yard 75 (LSAM 7) at Guttenedevi, the launch site of M/s SECON, Visakhapatnam under the “Make in India” initiative.

• 08 x MCA Barge is being built with a service life of 30 years and will provide impetus to the Operational commitments of IN by facilitating Transportation, Embarkation and Disembarkation of articles/ammunition to IN Ships both alongside jetties and at outer harbours.

India joined in the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate mission

India has joined the AIM4C (Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate mission) which was launched by the US and the United Arab Emirates. AIM4C aims to address hunger and climate change and it has increased these investments to more than 8 billion US dollars globally”.

Smart Agri project launched in Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu

The ‘Smart Agri’ project was launched at Coonoor Upasi Arena, Nilgiris district, aimed at improving tea farming with modern technology. The ‘Smart Agri’ scheme will benefit more than 10 thousand farmers in 193 villages in the Nilgiri district. It will also provide farmers with insight into soil quality, pest management and all other factors.

Gujarat Budget report 2023-24

The Gujarat government presented a ₹3.01 lakh crore budget with no new taxes imposed on people on 24th February 2023. Gujarat Finance Minister Kanu Desai presented the budgetary outlay for fiscal 2023-24 in the State Assembly.

Lakshmi Narayanan appointed as Additional Judge of Chennai High Court

Advocate Venkatachari Lakshmi Narayanan has been appointed as an Additional Judge of the Madras High Court as per the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium held on 17th February 2023.

• The number of judges at Chennai High Court increased to 58 and the number of vacancies decreased to 18.
• Lakshmi Narayanan will be administered the oath of office by the Chief Justice of Madras High Court D. Raja.

Ajay Banga was nominated as the President of the World Bank

US President Joe Biden nominated the name of Indian-origin Ajay Banga to head the World Bank, and after the confirmation of World Bank directors, Ajay Banga will be the first Indian-origin Sikh to head the World Bank.

• He is serving as Vice President of General Atlantic Financial Company.
• He also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Mastercard.
• He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2016.

CAG Girish Chandra Murmu appointed as External Auditor of ILO in Geneva

Comptroller and Auditor General, Girish Chandra Murmu was appointed as the External Auditor of the International Labor Organization in Geneva for a period of four years from 2024 to 2027.

Russia launches Soyuz MS23 Spacecraft in Space

Russia launched Soyuz MS23 Spacecraft to bring back the stranded astronauts in space. Three astronauts were stranded after the Soyuz MS-22 capsule started leaking coolant.

China launches Zhongxing-26 satellite in space

China Academy of Space Technology launched the Zhongxing-26 satellite at a cost of 333 million USD to provide broadband connectivity for aviation and ship-related operations. It was launched on a Long March 3B rocket.
