2nd International Conference on ‘Use of Technology and Elections Integrity’

The Election Commission of India (ECI) hosts the 2nd International Conference on the theme ‘Use of Technology and Elections Integrity’ in New Delhi on 23-24 January 2023. The first international conference of the Cohort was held on 31 Oct – 01 Nov 2022 at New Delhi on the topic ‘Role, Framework and Capacity of Election Management Bodies’.

  • Chief Election Commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar inaugurated the two-day international conference
  • The Summit developed two platforms – ‘Focal Groups’ and ‘Democracy Cohorts’ to facilitate participation in the Year of Action.
  • The 2nd Summit for Democracy will be held on 29- 30 March 2023 and co-hosted by the governments of Costa Rica, Rep. of Korea, Netherlands, Zambia and the US.

Egypt President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrives on three-day visit to India

President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is on a three-day visit to India and will arrive in New Delhi on 24th January 2023. President Sisi will be the Chief Guest on India’s 74th Republic Day. Egyptian Army’s military contingent will also participate in the Republic Day parade.

  • Earlier, The Egyptian President visited India in October 2015 to participate in the third India Africa Forum Summit.
  • Egypt has also been invited as a ‘Guest Country’ during India’s Presidency of G-20 in 2022-23.

Turtle Conservation and Rehabilitation Centre in Chennai

The State government issued orders to set up a turtle conservation and rehabilitation centre in Chennai at a cost of ₹6.30 crore. It will promote conservation, research, data collection and to create awareness about saving turtles.
