Bhupender Yadav lays the foundation stone of 100 bedded ESIC Hospital at Agartala

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav laid the foundation stone of 100 bedded Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital, Tripura from New Delhi in a virtual event held on 15th January 2023. The proposed 100 bedded ESIC hospital will be built in Agartala and will be spread over an area of 5 acres.
ESIC will run the hospital directly. Around 100 Crores rupees will be spent on the construction cost of this hospital.

  • 100 bedded ESIC hospital will be equipped with all the modern facilities like modular OT, state-of-the-art medical equipment, labs, etc. It will have OPD and IPD services.
  • It will cater to and provide medical services to more than 60,000 beneficiaries of Agartala and nearby areas.

Anurag Singh Thakur launches Fit India Healthy Hindustan Talk Series with Millets Special episode

On 15th January 2023, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Shri Anurag Singh Thakur launched Fit India’s Healthy Hindustan Talk Series with a special episode on Millet. fitness, a healthy diet chart, the needs of senior citizens and a special session on the importance of Millet in our daily life were discussed in during the special session with the Fit India Healthy Hindustan Icons.

  • The series, an online talk show by eminent fitness experts and Fit India Icons will be conducted between 22nd January and 12th March 2023.
  • People can also watch the series, an online talk show on the official YouTube and Instagram handles of Fit India, every Sunday at 11 am.
  • The Fit India Healthy Hindustan panellists includes Luke Coutinho (Lifestyle Expert), Ryan Fernando (Sports Nutritionist), Heena Bhimani (Nutritionist) and Sangram Singh (Wrestler/Motivational Speaker).

‘International Year of Millets’ (IYOM)

  • The United Nations General Assembly declared 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets’ (IYOM).
  • India will celebrate IYOM 2023, to make it a people’s movement so that Indian millets, recipes, and value-added products are accepted globally.

Doppler Weather Radar Network by 2025

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has said on the occasion of the 148th Foundation Day of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in New Delhi that India will be covered by Doppler Weather Radar Network by 2025 in order to predict extreme weather events more accurately.

  • Indian Government took steps to increase the Radar Network from 15 to 37.
  • Minister dedicated four Doppler Weather Radar Systems to Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
  • India will establish 660 District Agro Meteorological Units (DAMUs) by 2025.
  • Jitendra Singh also dedicated 200 Agro Automated Weather Stations to the Nation.

US President Joe Biden has given approval an emergency declaration for California on 14th January 2023 after storms. the storms led to floods, power outages, mudslides, evacuations and road closures in California.

  • Biden also approved an emergency declaration for Alabama after tornadoes that destroyed homes and knocked out power to tens of thousands in the southeastern United States.

“Saharsh” Special Education Program Launched by Tripura

The Tripura state government launched a special education program called “Saharsh” to promote social and emotional learning and will be available to all government and aided schools in the state. The ‘Saharsh’ was launched in 40 schools of the state on a pilot basis in August 2022.

  • Under the Saharsh program, Children will not be pressurized to study, rather and will be encouraged to social and emotional learning.
  • Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath launched a special ‘Saharsh’ teacher guideline handbook and informed that the entire module was available on the State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) website.

  • The bill aims to offer 30% reservation in government jobs in order to ensure social justice, equality of opportunity, improvement in living standards and gender equality in public planning.
