3rd session of National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction to begin in New Delhi

India – US Commercial Dialogue and CEO Forum to be held in New Delhi

The India – US Commercial Dialogue and CEO Forum will be conducted in New Delhi, aimed at discussing cooperation in various sectors that could unlock new trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

• The last India-USA Commercial Dialogue was held in February 2019. 
• The Dialogue will be co-chaired by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

E- Visa facility for Saudi Arabian Nationals

The facility of e- visa was restored for nationals of Saudi Arabia with immediate effect to apply for visas and travel to India for various purposes. E-visa stands restored in all five sub-categories i.e e-tourist visa, e-business visa, e-medical visa, e-medical attendant visa and e-conference visa for all available durations and number of entries.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is going to visit Japan on 16th March 2023 at Tokyo’s invitation, the first such visit in 12 years. Yoon will join in a summit meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to improve and develop relations between South Korea and Japan.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina confers Bangladesh National Film Awards

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented the National Film Awards 2021 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka on 9th March 2023. The awards were distributed to winners in 27 categories.

• Eminent artists Doly Jahur and Ilias Kanchan won the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for their contribution to the film Industry in Bangladesh.
• Doly Jahur received Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for the film Shonkhonil Karagar and Best Supporting Actress for Ghani.
• In 2018, she received the second-highest civilian award in Bangladesh, Ekushey Padak.
• Lal Moroger Jhuti (Call of the Red Rooster) and Nona Joler Kabbo (The Salt in our waters) jointly won the award in the Best Film Category.

Minister of State for External Affairs Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh joined the 19th BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting virtually from Bangkok, hosted by Chair Thailand. The meeting approved the draft Host Country Agreement between India and the BIMSTEC Secretariat for installing BIMSTEC Centre for Weather and Climate in India.
