The Union Cabinet approves the Signing of Guarantees for hosting the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Under 17 Women’s World Cup 2022 in India. the Cabinet was chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022
- FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 will be held in India between 11th and 30th October 2022. India will host the first-ever FIFA women’s competition and the 7th edition of the biennial youth tournament.
- The 6th edition of the event was held in Uruguay from 13th November to 1st December 2018.
Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations (NSFs)
- The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 will help in strengthening women’s football in the country.
- The tournament will help in increasing the representation of women in football leadership and decision-making bodies
- It will also inspire more girls to play football in India.
- All India Football Federation (AIFF) will be provided with a Financial outlay of Rs. 10 crore assistance for Field play Maintenance, Stadium power, Energy & Cabling, Stadia & Training Site Branding etc.
