Bird Flu emergency: four states are alert

Indian Govt has informed an emergency of bird flu in the last ten days. the virus has been found in the dead birds in Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana. the dead birds can have avian influenza. in order to control preventive and measures a control room has been installed by State authorities.

  • Jammu and Kashmir authorities started collecting samples from migratory species. the teams also visited the Gharana wetland and received 25 bird droppings to test avian influenza virus.
  • In Himachal Pradesh state, more than 2,400 birds are found dead and avian influenza alert has been issued in the state.
  • In Pong Dam Lake Sanctuary, Currently, 141 winter migratory birds are dead. the DM released an order for completely prohibiting sale/purchase/export of any poultry/birds/fish of any breed/age and their related products (eggs, meat, chicken and so on) in Fatehpur, Dehra, Jawali and Indora areas of Kangra.
