Amit Shah confers Maharashtra Bhushan Award 2022 to social activist Dr Dattatreya Narayan – Union Home Minister Amit Shah conferred the Maharashtra Bhushan Award 2022 to a spiritual leader and social activist Dr Dattatreya Narayan alias Appasaheb Dharmadhikari at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai for a significant role in social reforms. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan did various social work including health camps, blood donation camps, de-addiction, area cleaning, tree plantation, environment conservation, refilling of wells, and distribution of educational materials.

Appasaheb Dharmadhikari

  • Appasaheb Dharmadhikari, also known as Dattatreya Narayan Dharmadhikari is an Indian social worker from Maharashtra. He was born on 14 May 1946.
  • In 2014, he was conferred with a Doctor of Letters by Dr D Y Patil University, Nerul.
  • In 2017, he was honoured with Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, and Maharashtra Bhushan award for the year 2023.

Maharashtra Bhushan Award

The Maharashtra Bhushan is the highest civilian award given every year by the Government of Maharashtra State in India. The Maharashtra Bhushan was first awarded in the year 1996 in the fields of Literature, Art, Sport, and Science. The award is presented for outstanding achievement in their field.

The award carries a cash prize of ₹ 25 lakhs, a memento and a citation. The winners are chosen by a committee appointed by the Government of Maharashtra.
