Agriculture Ministry to Cover 100 Lakh Hectares Under Micro Irrigation
On 9th Sept 2020, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar Ji has made an announcement that the Ministry is looking for cover 100 lakh Hectares under micro-irrigation in upcoming the period of five years. he shared information regarding this during a webinar on Enhancing Water Use Efficiency and Coverage of Micro Irrigation.
Highlights –
- DAC & FW is going to begin Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana (PMKSY-PDMC) in order to boost water usage’ efficiency and will help to raise the income of farmers.
- In view of this, NABARD makes a dedicated Micro Irrigation Fund. it will offer 5000 crores rupees support in order to expand the micro-irrigation coverage.
- NABARD and MIF committee grants projects which cost will be around 3805.67 crores rupees and it will include 12.53 lakh Ha under MIF. under PMKSY-PDMC, This fund is to be released as subsidy.
