1.6 billion year old fossil discovered – Fossils of Earth’s “Ancient Waterways” that lived about 1.6 billion years ago were discovered fossilized in oceanic rocks off the northern coast of Australia.
The 1.6 billion-year-old fossil discovery will trace the eukaryotic process to the ancestors of organisms that lived 1.6 billion years ago and could revolutionize scientists’ understanding of our earliest ancestors, scientists said.
