World Tsunami Awareness Day 2023: History, Significance – The World Tsunami Awareness Day is observed on November 5th every year in order to raise awareness in areas like tsunami early warning, public action and building back better after a disaster to reduce future impacts. Tsunami is described as a series of waves that are caused by the displacement of water usually in large water bodies such as seas and oceans.

  • In 2021, World Tsunami Awareness Day promotes the “Sendai Seven Campaign,” target (f), which aims to ‘substantially enhance international cooperation to developing countries through adequate and sustainable support to complement their national actions for implementation of the present Framework by 2030.’
