World Press Freedom Day 2021: The World Press Freedom Day is marked on 3rd May every year across the world. it aims to create awareness of the importance of freedom of the press and roles in reminding Govts of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression.
World Press Freedom Day: History
In 1991, a recommendation was brought at the 26th General Conference session of UNESCO. In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly declared the day of 3rd May as the World Press Freedom Day.
World Press Freedom Day: Significance
The main objective of this day is to make ensure of protection and safety of the press and is to discuss journalistic ethics.
10 countries China, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Eritrea, Djibouti, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, and Cuba, press freedom is severely limited.
World Press Day Theme 2021:
The theme for World Press Day 2021 is “Information as a Public Good.”
