The University Grants Commission (UGC) started an initiative called “Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme 2025”, aimed at promoting higher education among students from India’s North Eastern Region (NER). Under the scheme, the University Grants Commission (UGC), launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, seeks to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in the region by delivering financial support to students from economically weaker sections.
UGC Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have the following criteria for the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025:
- You must be a domicile of any of the 8 northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, or Tripura.
- You must have passed Class 12 or equivalent in the academic year before the application.
- You must have secured admission in the first year of a full-time general or professional degree course in a recognized institution.
- You must be a family with an annual income of Rs 4.5 lakh or less.

UGC Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025: Scholarship Amount
Selected students will receive financial assistance as follows:
- Rs 5,400 per month – General degree programs
- Rs 7,800 per month – Technical, professional, medical, or paramedical courses
How to Apply for the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025
- First of all, go to the National Scholarship Portal: https://scholarships.gov.in
- On the homepage, click on “New Registration” (if not already registered).
- Read and agree to the guidelines before proceeding.
- Enter your credentials.
- Choose “UGC Ishan Uday Scholarship” from the list of available schemes.
- Enter the required details, including personal, academic, and bank details, carefully.
- Upload scanned copies of the required documents – Domicile Certificate, Income Certificate, Admission Proof, and Class 12 Marksheet.
- Submit the completed application
- Download and print it for future reference.
