PM Modi Unveils Shri Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi and Statue in Kedarnath
On 5th November 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated key infrastructure projects related to the redevelopment of Kedarnath.
- During the visit of PM Modi’s Uttarakhand, He also inaugurated the reconstructed Shri Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi (final resting place) at the premises of the Kedarnath Temple in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand and unveiled the statue of Shri Adi Shankaracharya at the Samadhi.
- The statue of Shri Adi Shankaracharya is 12 feet long and has a weight of around 35 tonnes (35,000kg).
- the statue has been constructed by Mysore-based sculptor Arjun Yogiraj.
Amit Shah launches Ayushmaan CAPF Scheme health cards
The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah has launched the ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme health cards at the national level in New Delhi.
- On 23rd January 2021, Union Home Minister had launched the ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme on a Pilot basis in Assam that aims to provide healthcare services to all Central Armed Police Force (CAPFs) personnel and their dependents.
- Under the scheme, 35 Lakh cards will be distributed by the end of December 2021 and will include seven Central Armed Police Forces under MHA.
India’s first rooftop, open-air, Jio drive-in theatre to open
On 5th November 2021, The first open-air rooftop drive-in movie theatre in India (spread across 17.5 acres) has started its services at Jio World Drive mall of Reliance Industries in Mumbai, Maharashtra, which has been launched in partnership with Reliance Retail and multiplex chain PVR.
- The multiplex chain PVR Ltd will operate and manage the drive-in theatre.
- It will offer a facility of the accommodation of around 290 cars.
- Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi become the first movie that was screened at the theatre.

PhonePe’s ‘SafeCard’ tokenisation solution to help users meet RBI norms
PhonePe has launched a tokenization solution ‘SafeCard’ for online debit and credit card transactions. The SafeCard will help in enabling both PhonePe users and merchant partners to continue experiencing the convenience of saved card transactions with increased security and in compliance with the new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.
- Along with it, tokenisation solution ‘SafeCard’ will also provide its supports for all major card networks including Mastercard, Rupay and Visa.
- It will offer a layer of security by converting sensitive cardholder data to a string of randomly generated numbers known as a token.
- It aims to enable PhonePe Customers to utilise saved card details for seamless transactions across the PhonePe ecosystem.

Damon Galgut wins Booker Prize for ‘The Promise’
The Writer from South Africa Damon Galgut has received the prestigious 2021 Booker Prize for Fiction on November 3, 2021. He has been awarded the prestigious 2021 Booker Prize for his novel `The Promise’.
- The Promise novel narrates one white family’s reckoning with South Africa’s racist history.
- Galgut was British bookmakers’ runaway favorite to receive the 50,000-pound ($69,000) prize with a troubled Afrikaner family and its broken promise to a Black employee — a tale.
- He won the prize 3rd time as a finalist and he was also shortlisted for “The Good Doctor” in 2003 and “In a Strange Room” in 2010.
- Along with it, Galgut has become the 3rd South African novelist after Nadine Gordimer (1974) and J.M. Coetzee (1983 and 1999).
International
China launches earth science satellite named Guangmu
China has launched an Earth science satellite called Guangmu into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern Shanxi Province. The satellite was sent by a Long March-6 carrier rocket and has entered the planned orbit.
- China’s new satellite accounts for the 395th flight mission of the Long March rocket series.
- The Chinese Academy of Sciences has Developed and the satellite (SDGSAT-1) is the world’s first space science satellite that has been dedicated for the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

C.S. Venkatakrishnan appointed as CEO of Barclays
Indian-American banker C.S. Venkatakrishnan has been chosen as the group chief executive (CEO) of the British multinational bank Barclays.
- Venkatakrishnan has replaced Jes Staley, who stepped down recently, after serving the post since 2015.
- He also was appointed as chief risk officer at Barclays in 2016.
- Also, was chosen as the head of global markets and co-president of BBPLC.
Rahul Dravid as head coach of Indian men’s cricket team till 2023 ODI World Cup
Former captain and Known as Diwar in Cricket Rahul Dravid, have been appointed as the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team by the BCCI. The right-handed batsman Dravid will stay with the Indian Cricket team for a period of two years till the 2023 50-over World Cup.
- Dravid will assume the post of the Head coach from the T20I series against New Zealand starting 17th November 2021 in Jaipur.
- He was working as the head of National Cricket Academy.

Indian Boxer Akash Kumar clinch bronze in 2021 AIBA Men’s World Championships
Indian boxer Akash Kumar has clinched a bronze medal at the 2021 AIBA Men’s World Championships. he was defeated in the 54 kg category by Makhmud Sabyrkhan of Kazakhstan.
- He has won India’s seventh medal at the world’s one of the biggest boxing events.
- Prior to this, Indian boxers Amit Panghal (silver in 2019), Vijender Singh (bronze in 2009), Vikas Krishan (bronze in 2011), Shiva Thapa (bronze in 2015), Gaurav Bidhuri (bronze in 2017), and Manish Kaushik (bronze in 2019) won medals for the country at the Men’s World Championships.

The World Tsunami Awareness Day is observed on November 5th every year in order to raise awareness in areas like tsunami early warning, public action and building back better after a disaster to reduce future impacts.
- In 2021, World Tsunami Awareness Day promotes “Sendai Seven Campaign,” target (f), which aims to ‘substantially enhance international cooperation to developing countries through adequate and sustainable support to complement their national actions for implementation of the present Framework by 2030.’
